Q) Web-Hosting-Service's
Registration Agreement says something about
having to pay $200 for re-instatement of a
domain name, could you explain?
A) The $200 fee is * not * the fee to
register a domain name or the fee to renew a
domain name. It is the fee to re-instate the
name after the payment was denied. It is used,
for example, in the following circumstance:
- A user registers a name and pays for it
with a credit card.
- Later, the user denies to the credit
card company that he registered the name.
- The credit card company refunds money
back to the user and takes funds out of
iNet's bank account. Thus, the user has the
name but did not pay for it, even though
iNet has paid for it.
- Therefore, we will put the name "on
hold" so that the user does not have access
to it, thereby "taking back" the name from
the user.
- After all this, the user decides he
wants the name after all.
- He would have to pay us the costs we
incurred as a result of his actions or $200,
which ever is less, for us to
reinstate the name to him and take the name
"off hold".
So far, this circumstance has never happened
at iNet.
Q) How do you contact us concerning
domain renewals or problems with our domain
name?
A) All contact is by email, using
the administrative contact email address that
you list on your domain name records, as
determined by WHOIS. Remember, it is your
responsibility to keep your domain name
registration records up to date. It is
also a violation of the registration agreement
if you do not keep your domain name records up
to date or provide false information on these
records. This violation could result in
the domain name be deleted and returned to the
registry. If this occurs you will not be
refunded the fees you paid for the domain
registration or renewal.
Q) What is Domain Lock?
A) Domain Lock is only available on
domain names register with enom.com.
Domain Lock prevents anybody from transferring a
domain name to another registrar. If you
decide to transfer the domain name to another
registrar, email us using the admin contact
email address on the domain record and request
that domain lock be removed. We will then
remove it so you may transfer the domain name.
This is used for your protection to prevent any
unauthorized transfer of your domain name to
another registrar.
Q)
Is $1395
the only fee we have to pay?
A)
When you register your domain name there is an
annual fee that is payable to the registration
agent (web-hosting-service.com) of $13.95. This is
the only fee you pay for the use of this domain
name, but you will be required to pay fees to a
hosting company if you wish to have the domain
name hosted.
Please note: this is an annual charge and you
will be contacted via e-mail 4 weeks prior to
the expiration for renewal purposes. If
you do not renew, then the domain name will be
placed in the common domain name pool and made
available to someone else to register.
However, as long as your renew the domain name
each year, you will have the exclusive use of
it.
Q)
Why are your prices so much lower than other
companies?
A) Many companies use domain name
registration as a profit center. We offer
it as a service to our clients and to attract
new hosting clients. So we are basically
offering domain name registration for what it
costs us to provide it.
Our hosting business is our main business.
So we are willing to offer this service for less
to introduce new visitors to our site and as a
service to our current hosting clients.
Q)
Can I pay by check?
A)
No, the registration process is on a prepayment
system and web-hosting-service.com is providing
this service at our cost with the payment
passing through to the Registrar. The only
fee we add to the price we pay to the Registrar
is to cover our merchant account and operating
costs to perform this service.
Q)
How long does it take for my domain name to
become registered once I’ve entered it into the
system?
A)
The registration process should not take more
than 24 hours from the submission of the online
registration. You can confirm that the domain
has been registered by returning to
http://web-hosting-service.com and entering the domain
name into the box. The registration information
will be displayed if the registration process
was successful.
Q)
If I register my domain name on the web-hosting-service.com Web Site, am I the sole owner of the
domain?
A)
Domain name registration gives you the exclusive
use of the domain name as long as you renew it
each year or for the term of years you chose to
register it. You indicate this ownership
by registering your name as the Registrant and
Admin Contact in the domain name record.
ICANN owns the domain names. They give others
the exclusive use of them through the
registration processes. So effectively you
own the domain name as long as you make the
annual renewal payments on it and it is a
legally registered domain name.
However it is your responsibility to keep your
domain contact information up to date,
especially your email address information for
each contact, and to pay the renewal fees on
time. If you fail to do this you will lose
the use of the domain name.
Q)
Can I use the same user id for multiple domains?
A)
Yes, you can. Just use the same username
and password on the registration form.
Q)
I have an e-mail which says that my domain has
been registered, but I can't see the Under
Construction page. Why?
A) You will not see an Under
Construction page unless you arrange to have the
web page hosted or you selected the Email option
that provides you with email service and a
Default web page.
When you receive the e-mail confirming the
registration of your new domain, there are many
more steps still to be done behind the scenes.
Your domain will be entered into the global
WHOIS database, and your registration must
travel to all the ISPs in the world. It will be
24-48 hours after you receive the confirmation
e-mail before your domain name will respond to
your web browser.
Q)
Can
I host my web site with another company?
A)
Yes you can. This is a registration service for
Domain names. We do not require you to use our
hosting services to register your domain names
at these prices. We do however
highly recommend that you investigate our web
hosting plans at
http://web-hosting-service.com. You will find
our prices and features very attractive.
Q)
I made a mistake. How do I change my
domain name?
A)
Once a domain name is registered, it can not be
changed. Nor does Internic give refunds
once a domain name is registered. So it is very
important to review the verify page to ensure
there are no errors before you accept the page
to register the domain name.
Q)
Once I have a domain name registered, how long
may I use it?
A)
If there are no trademark disputes, your
registered domain name will be yours for as long
as you maintain the yearly registration fees.
Q)
Do you charge for transferring my domain name
to another company?
A)
There is no charge for transferring your domain
to another company's Domain Name Server.
Go to
http://web-hosting-service.com, click on Domain Name
Changes or Modifications, then follow the
instructions for making these changes.
Q)
What
does it cost to have the Domain Name records
modified?
A)
Unlike many of the low cost domain name
registration companies, we do not charge for
providing this service to you. Just fill
out the form on our site requesting the change
and we will make it for you.
Q)
How
do I modify my domain information that’s
contained on the Domain Name Server?
A)
Go to
http://web-hosting-service.com, click on Domain Name
Changes and Modification. then follow the
instructions for making these changes.
Q)
What
is a domain name?
A)
numerical IP (Internet Protocol) address by your
host provider. Since people remember names
better than numbers, the domain name translates
this number into words.
Q)
What
are the valid characters for a domain name and
how long can it be?
A)
The only valid characters for a domain name are
letters, numbers and a hyphen "-". Other special
characters like the underscore "_" or an
exclamation mark "!" are NOT permitted.
Example: your name.com (not correct, No spaces
allowed)
Example: your-name.com (is correct)
A domain name can be up to 67 characters long --
including the 4 characters used to identify the
Top Level Domain (.NET, .COM, or .ORG). Do not
type the www. before your domain name when
registering
Q)
What
does it mean to "park" a domain name?
A)
In order for you to register a domain name you
need a Domain Name System (DNS) server to host
it. When you register a domain name with iNet
Hosting Service, we are hosting your domain name
on our DNS. We are holding or "parking" the
domain name for you. You have the option to move
your domain name off of our servers to another
Internet Service Provider (ISP) or host provider
at any time.
